Why We Are Still Masking
I am sure by now that you have heard that the CDC has said that vaccinated people do not have to mask in public; I've had a few emails and phone calls from folks asking what will change at St. Cross. The answer is that, while we are excited to see everyone's entire faces as soon as we can, nothing will change yet from recent weeks, and for several good reasons.
As outlined in previous emails, we are not checking who is vaccinated and who is not. We STRONGLY recommend vaccinations. We hope you will get one. And we know our children are not yet vaccinated, and members of our community may not be able to get a vaccination for one reason or another. So we will STILL MASK at services inside and out to protect the most vulnerable. This is part of our call as Christians, to serve those most in need.
Additionally, we are beholden to the rules set forth by our diocese and by our county, neither of which has repealed their stance on wearing masks. I know that you are ready to fling your mask aside and sing at the top of your lungs. I am ready for that also, but we aren't there... yet. We will be.
And when we get there? We will celebrate together as a community.
For now, please, please know that we understand it is hard, but are protocols are to protect all of us to the best of our ability. We look forward to our first inside service at 7:30 am on May 23 and our first baptisms in community at 10 am on the same day.
