Who are the ministers of the Church?
In the Episcopal Church, ministers include bishops, priests, and deacons. Bishops have the highest order and are responsible for the oversight of multiple congregations within a geographical area known as a diocese. Rectors/Priests lead individual congregations, presiding over worship services and providing pastoral care. Deacons often focus on outreach and service within the community. Each of these roles contributes to the leadership and functioning of the Episcopal Church. (BCP)
Although the St Cross vestry are not ministers of the church, they are a group of lay members elected by the congregation to assist the clergy in governing the affairs of St Cross. The vestry acts as a board of directors, responsible for making decisions regarding finances, property, and overall administration of the church. Vestry members are typically elected for a specified term (3 years) and work closely with Reverend Rachel to support the mission and vision of the church. Their duties may include budgeting, strategic planning, policy-making, and representing the interests of the congregation. Is there anything specific you would like to know about the St Cross vestry?
