What do Trinity Sunday and Memorial Day Weekend Have in Common?
Granted this religious observation and this national holiday are an odd mashup. And I am not sure they have much of anything in common. However, I did want to bring your attention to both of these. Trinity Sunday is the last feast day before we go into the "Season after Pentecost" which will roll throughout the summer months. All clergy joke about "having to preach" on Trinity Sunday, the one feast day when we celebrate our doctrine and not an event or saint. To that end, I am sharing my favorite video on explaining the doctrine of the Trinity, and how such explanations most often ends in heresy. We will see how this Sunday's preacher does on the subject. Video on the Trinity.
And it is also Memorial Day weekend. There will be plenty of parking for church services. But if you are going to leave your car to walk to Fiesta Hermosa after, we ask that you please give a $20 donation to our youth who will be selling parking spaces. As is our tradition at St. Cross, we will have a special collect at the start of the service in honor of those who have given their lives for the freedom of our country.
Regardless if you are excited by religious doctrine or a national holiday, we hope to see you this Sunday. As always, there will be enough Jesus, love and donuts to share with everyone.
Peace,
Rev. Rachel+
