Vestry Candidate: Amy Hanrahan
I would like to serve on the St. Cross Vestry because: I “belong” to St Cross in so many ways: I love the liturgy, the music, the outreach, the clergy & most of all, my relationships within my Faith Community. St Cross has been my refuge, my heart, and I look forward to serving others in this new role.
In my life’s work, I am/have been particularly good at these skills: 1. A former educator, I coordinated an Adult Literacy Center in South Central. 2. A former respiratory therapist supervisor, I provided onsite tutorials/mentoring. 3. A former LAUSD administrative aide, I monitored financial milestone access. 4. Mother of three, grandmother of one.
Other skills that I have which could be valuable on the Vestry: 1. Listening – I like to hear the gamut of opinions. 2. Communications – wrote newsletters for MBEF, MCHS PTA, taught Y2A. 3. Collaborating with others – Parish Fair Coordinator, Migration Event (Peace & Justice), Neighbor-to-Neighbor, Laundry Love, Giving Tree, Casa Belize
Special hobbies/interests which I enjoy: 1. EfM – I am now in Year Two, New Testament, - & loving it! 2. Civics – I serve on the Board of the LWVBC (local League of Women Voters) 3. Hiking, biking, Yoga
The area of ministry that interests me most is: Outreach
1. Older Adults – I’d like to see Endearing Hearts (Rev. Kate Lewis) revived! 2. Restore Retreat Opportunities – Before the pandemic, we had Ski Retreats for Families, Women’s Retreats, Men’s Retreats – great Community Builders!
