Memorial Services
One of the blessings of being part of a church is that you have a community to grieve with you in your darkest hours. However, due to the pandemic, we have not been able to grieve communally, nor celebrate a person's life the way we normally would. No funeral. No group gathered for inurnment. No cookies and punch in the parish hall as we tell stories of the beloved member who has gone into eternal life. This has been one of the most difficult aspects of the pandemic for me. Personally, I have kept a list of members who have died by my computer so that I remember to pray for them and their families through this odd season of grief when we could not gather.
Many of you have asked if we can have a service to mourn the members of St. Cross who have died in the past sixteen months and whose lives we have not been able to celebrate or grieve together. We will do this on All Saints' Sunday, November 7th. This service will be one of remembering and mourning, filled with joy of life eternal given to us in the resurrection. We will have special music that day in observance of the occasion.
The following upcoming services have been scheduled for members:
- Jerry Saunders-Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2:00pm
Chris Angelo- Date and Time TBA
Dixielee Kirby, Clark Kirby, JoAnn Maisch, Gary Grimes have all be inurned in the St. Cross columbarium with only family in attendance.
Give rest, O Christ, to your servant with your saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Rachel+
