Family Promise Update
Family Promise engages faith-based organizations, host churches, and support churches in an effort to remedy family homelessness. Together this network provides a temporary safety net and resources for families working to return to a home of their own. For the past 6-7 years, St. Cross has been a support church, providing meals and hospitality on a rotating basis. Some of you have been asking how things are going in these challenging times. First Christian Church of Torrance graciously opened their church for the rest of 2020 to the four families currently in the program. Donations were received to set up a virtual classroom and to provide each child with a Google Chromebook for distance learning. AT&T is providing free internet access, which is great. St. Cross continues to support the families during this time by providing funds to purchase food. We also gave a donation of $1,000 from our Endowment Fund for their transitional housing program.
