Bible Study, Refugee Updates, Ash Wednesday and More
I can't commit: While over 100 of you have signed up for the Bible study, some of you are daunted by the length of time we will be studying. My response has been, "That's ok, just commit to doing it for Lent," or, "Do it for two weeks with a friend and see if you like it." Don't let the time frame scare you. Just start, and see where it takes you. Maybe it will only be a week or two. Maybe it will be more. To be led by the Spirit, we have to engage the Spirit. Scripture is one way to do that. So join us! Even if just for one week. Starting Feb. 24, you can attend on zoom Wednesdays either at 9 am or 7:30pm, or we will have an intro video online at some point on Wednesdays and you can study on your own or with a friend.
New Refugee Needs: I cannot thank Rev. Nathan, Rev. Patti and their team of helpers for preparing the apartment for our new refugee. Farhad will arrive on Feb. 18. Normally we would ask you all to join us at LAX to welcome him. However, with COVID we cannot do that. But we are asking you to drop by a welcome card (Farhad is fluent in English) to the office between now and Feb. 17. We will put them all in a basket and he will have your welcome and greetings when he arrives. We look forward to supporting him as he builds his life in the United States.
Ash Wednesday and Lent: The Ash Wednesday Service will be available on our website, Facebook and YouTube at 7 am on Ash Wednesday. You can watch it at any time throughout the day or evening. If you would like to come for drive through ashes, you may do so from 7:30am-9:00am, 11:30am-1:00pm, 5:00pm-7:00pm. We know we have had some different times mentioned for the evening and we have extended them to include all times listed. Ashes are not "mandatory" for Ash Wednesday. Entering into a Holy Lent is. We hope you will pray the service with us at some point during the day as we enter into this holy time of reflection.
Drive Through Eucharist Dates: The upcoming Drive-Through Eucharist dates are February 21, March 7, March 21, March 28, April 4, April 25.
